About Course

This module aims to facilitate the communication in English in an intercultural environment and covers the following topics:

  • Topic 1: Alphabet, numbers, figures…
  • Topic 2: Word sounds and the different English accents
  • Topic 3: Telephone and online conversations, receiving and giving directions
  • Topic 4: The English we speak everyday, jog your memory, and tell me a story

 

What Will You Learn?

  • Feel at ease when speaking in English, and using numbers and figures in conversations (professional, social, travels…)
  • Recognize words through different accents, engage in conversations with confidence, be in contact with people from different English-speaking regions
  • Facilitate communication in English in an intercultural environment
  • Use typical / colloquial / idiomatic English formulas with the right accent, expand their vocabulary, identifying, using and memorising contractions, participate more actively in civic life

Course Content

1. Alphabet, numbers, figures…
You will learn how the alphabet is necessary to feel at ease when speaking in English, how to spell phone numbers in English (digit by digit), and how to say big numbers in different contexts (statistics & economic data : wages, production, trade, employment, etc)

2. Word sounds and the different English accents
A good pronunciation of the English language allows learners to recognize words through different accents, engage in conversations with confidence, and be in contact with people from different English-speaking regions

After completing this topic learners will be able to have a toolkit of simple words facilitating their understanding, gain confidence in exchanges and in speaking, organise a trip abroad with other people, become autonomous, and find useful information on the web by listening to YouTube videos in English

4. The English we speak everyday, jog your memory, and tell me a story
You will feel comfortable in an English-speaking environment, expand your vocabulary, become at ease for using contractions in your conversation, participate more actively in civic life, use typical / colloquial / idiomatic English formulas with the right accent: become a good English speaker and through gamification: be creative and enthusiastic about collective activities.

In the end, I almost failed the quiz questions because I wrote the 17th after the word, which was a mistake, and I missed a word from the list. I filled it in and misspelled a letter. On the other hand, two questions were substituted (compared to the video).
However, I also saw many interesting, instructive and inspiring videos.
